At Shine Health Wellbeing Centre we specialise in addressing deep seated concerns that cause you stress in life. Our Mind Body Counselling sessions provide real solutions and strategies to get you back on track with your life, your health and your relationships.
As the mind and the body are constantly communicating with one another and share a common physiological and bio-chemical language, your mind or mental health can affect how healthy your body is and your physical health can impact your mental state. All the experiences you have ever had, good or bad, happy, sad, fearful, traumatic, ecstatic or significantly memorable in any way are stored not only in your memory (subconscious mind) but also in your nervous system (physiology). This mind body connection with your past, present and future will either help you or hinder you in your life. Hence, all your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and attitudes can positively or negatively affect your behaviour and your biological functioning. In other words, your mind will affect how healthy your body is.
The reverse is also true. What you do with your physical body, what you eat and drink, how much you exercise, sleep, your posture, etc, can also impact your state of mind, again positively or negatively. It’s important to note that “mind” is not synonymous with the brain. Instead, in our definition, the mind consists of mental states such as thoughts, emotions, beliefs, attitudes, and images. The brain is the hardware that allows us to experience these mental states. Our state of mind can be fully conscious or unconscious. Hence, you can have an emotional reaction to a situation without being aware of why you are reacting that way. As each emotion or mental state has a biochemistry and physiology associated with it, a positive or negative effect will be felt in your body. For example, fear or anxiety causes a release of many stress hormones which raise your blood pressure, increase your breathing and constrict your blood supply, leaving you feeling tense and on edge.
During your session your practitioner will utilize a host of techniques such as NLP, EFT, hypnosis, visualisation and popular psychology to aid you in releasing old hurts, limiting beliefs and behaviours as well as help you bring new awareness and possible solutions to your current problems and dilemmas. By addressing and releasing limiting thoughts and beliefs you will experience new levels of awareness, greater compassion and emotional freedom.
Working with mind body therapies helps you focus on becoming more consciously aware of your mental states and by using this increased awareness helps you guide your mental states in a better, less destructive direction.
