How to get over covid

  • Positive RAT

My brush with Covid and how I got over it

After 2 years plus of dodging the covid bullet, I finally succumbed at the end of April and got those 2 dreaded lines on the RAT. A fabulous birthday gift from my loving partner who also got covid few days before me.

Where did we get it? Maybe on our Easter trip to Tassy, on the plane, at a family gathering, who knows? With over 10,000 daily cases in Victoria at the time of writing, Rona is definitely doing the rounds. It is or maybe is it inevitable that we all get it at some stage?

I wanted to share my experience so those of you who have not yet had it I can be confident that there is definitely support you can have while you are sick and prevent any lingering effects. The good thing is that as a Naturopath I have already treated many people with Covid and the feed back is that what I gave them really helped. Now that I also have personal experience of having covid there is really nothing to be worried about.

Regardless of vaccine status, everyone is susceptible to catching the virus. Some more than others and everyone will have a different experience based on their own immune strength and how much preventative and supportive measures they invested in before they get it.

Can Acupuncture help my Anxiety?

Mental health disorders affect almost 50% of the adult population at some point in their lifetime at a cost of approximately $220 billion annually worldwide, $10.6 billion nationally. (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2018 Australian Institute of Health and Welfare [AIHW], 2020). In Australia, the National Survey of Mental Health and Wellbeing (Australian Government, 2009) states that 20% of the adult population currently suffer from a mental health disorder of which 14% is related to an anxiety disorder, this equates to 1 in 7 people (AIHW, 2021).

Anxiety disorders include, general anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) (Australian Government, 2021). The manifestations of anxiety disorders are generally long term and chronic in nature with anxiety being defined as a continuous feeling of dread, fear, and imminent tragedy, or tension and uneasiness.

Prevention is better than cure

Why prevention is always better than cure

I’m sure you have heard the phrase “Prevention is better than cure” and have probably uttered it yourself to someone at some time. It is a term we are all familiar with but what does it really mean and are you willing to partake in this strategy.
After years in practice, I have noticed is that most people wait until they are in pain or sick before they come and have some treatment. Similarly, few take the time to schedule a health and wellness plan for themselves to protect themselves from illness. Whether this relates to a sore stiff neck or back, a lurking sniffle or a recurrent health issue most people ignore the signs their body is giving them until it is too difficult to ignore and it needs urgent attention.
